Who runs Libido Events?

Libido Events is run by me, Jennifer. I've even got the assistance of some wonderful friends, partners, and volunteers to keep things running smoothly.

Who runs Libido Lounge?

Jennifer and her partner Jason run Libido Lounge together with the support of an enormous and growing number of volunteers.

What is your privacy policy? What will happen to my contact info if I contact Libido Events, Libido Lounge or attend an event?

Our privacy policy is that we keep all information confidential. This policy applies to info in any of the following situations, as well as any others not listed:

if you are an attendee at a Libido Event or a member of Libido Lounge
if you send us a request for information
if you sign up for our mailing list
if you receive mailing list email--all mass email will be sent either in Bcc ("Blind Carbon Copy"--does not appear in the mail headers) or to the mailing list address, never to a visible list of addresses.

If anyone requests information about someone else, we will not give it out.

Working with Libido Events or Libido Lounge

Can I request or suggest a workshop?

Are there any group rates? Is pre-booking required for a group rate?

Yes there are, for workshops. The minimum size for a group is 6 people. And yes, pre-booking is required to get a group rate. Contact Libido Events in advance (prior to the workshop you wish to attend) to arrange for a discounted group rate.

There are no group rates for parties; all attendees come as individuals or couples.

Can I present a workshop for Libido Events or Libido Lounge?

Yes. We are always open to proposals from authors, artists, teachers, presenters, or anyone else who would like to present a workshop for Libido Events.

the workshop title
a 250 word synopsis of your presentation
workshop outline
special room needs, class maximums if applicable, AV equipment, hand outs, gender specific class, unusual request go here, etc
the length of the workshop. Including breaks. (Minimum: 2 hours; maximum 7 hours--all day.)

Personal info:

your full name
your contact info including telephone number with area code and e-mail address (This will remain private, confidential, and unpublished until we have agreed on what is to be posted for publication on the website, mailing list, or other materials used to promote your event.)
your personal bio, the way you want it to appear in promotional materials.
a photo JPEG of yourself
If possible include a longer CV listing your qualifications and history as a presenter (if any) and any references.

Financial compensation and/or a generous Presenters Package is available to presenters whose proposals are accepted.

Can I enter into a partnership with Libido Events? Can my business or event work with Libido Events?

Yes, we certainly hope so. Let's find out. We are always looking for partners who have events and efforts similar to ours that may fit well in close proximity and complement each other, or partners who would appreciate the targeted marketing opportunity our events hold.

Are there vending opportunities at workshops or events? Can I promote a store, product, or resource at a Libido Event?

Yes at some events. If you have a store, product, or resource (which might be yourself) of likely benefit to our event attendees, ask--let's see if we work together on having your product or self discovered by our attendees.

Of course you can. We love volunteers and couldn't make it all work without volunteer help.

Libido Events & Libido Lounge: the events themselves

How old must people be to attend our events?

19 years old or older and must be able to present valid photo I.D. that proves their age. This applies to all attendees; no exceptions. No children will be admitted at any time. This includes infants. (Note: You must also be at least 19 years old to receive email from Libido Events.)

What's the average age of people who attend our events? The average age of attendees varies by event however most are 30+ with this said we have members ranging in age from 19 through to their late sixties currently.

Where are Libido Events held? You'll find Libido Events held at a host of wonderful venues throughout Vancouver and the lower mainland. Depending on the nature of the event some are in adult stores, community centers, conference centers and other welcoming host spots as necessary. Our facility Libido Lounge hosts the greatest number of our events.

Where are Libido Lounge events held? They our held in our private members only facility located in North Burnaby.

What is your tolerance policy?

Libido Events & Libido Lounge is intended for people of every pursuasion imaginable. Bigotry is not tolerated. If you wish to express a bias about any race, religion, creed, orientation, gender, size or play practice, please leave that desire outside of our events. Anyone violating this tolerance policy will be ejected or lose the privilege of being able to attend future events and/or membership.

Do I need to pre-purchase tickets to attend Libido Events?

Only if it specifically says this in the event listing on the Calendar or on its flyer. Otherwise, tickets can be purchased at the door (sometimes exclusively at the door, sometimes in addition to pre-purchase). Required pre-purchasing of tickets is in place only occasionally, for events where seating is limited or when I'm keeping track of heads. When pre-purchase is in place, 2 or 3 locations are given where you may buy or pick up tickets from.

How do I pay for a workshop?

By cash at the door of the event. If pre-purchase tickets are available, the payment options depend on the location--cash, cheque, credit card, debit card, etc. each may or may not be available.

If paying by cheque, and the cheque is returned, a $50 NSF fee will be charged.

Is there alcohol served at Libido Events, or at Libido Lounge

No. All of our events are alcohol-free. Water and non-alcoholic drinks are usually available.

I've never attended anything like your events before, Jennifer--will I be comfortable?

Of course you'll be comfortable and if you find yourself unsure of anything at any point, you can let myself know or any of the wonderful volunteers who will be there to ensure you feel safe & welcome.

The Mailing List

What information goes out to the mailing list that is not on the website?

The details baby, it's all about the details. The mailing list gets detailed presenter & workshop info, complete venue info, and news of other activities of interest to those in sex-positive culture or alternative lifestyles both internationally and locally.

Who opens or answers the email in the "list" or "jennifer" accounts of Libido Events?

Only me, Jennifer. I am the only one to open any email here at Libido Events or to even have access to it. All mail coming from Libido Events will also be sent out only by me. Your privacy is assured. I will not share, give out, or sell your name or email address to anyone. (Note: You must be at least 19 years old to receive email from Libido Events, as well as attend any Libido Event.)

How often are messages sent out on the mailing list?

About 6-10 times per month.

How do I subscribe to the Libido Events mailing list?

The email should be your own and be the address to which you want the mailing list emails to come. We cannot subscribe third party addresses.

Can I subscribe a friend to the mailing list?

No, at least not directly. (We cannot subscribe third party addresses.) If you want to subscribe a friend, let them know about us and have them send us their own subscription request from their own email account.

About Me, Jennifer (the person behind Libido Events)

Who are you, Jennifer?

I'm an activist for sex positive culture, an advocate & presenter of alternative sex education.

How long have you been a sexual explorer, Jennifer?

I've been a sexual outlaw / activist for over 10 years now. Hadn't planned on it being this way and didn't know where I was heading in terms of activism, community building, and outreach/education, but once I stepped outside of the mainstream box and saw the possibilities, there was no turning back.

Can I book a private consultation with you, Jennifer? And what is a private consultation like?

Yes, you sure can book a private consultation with me. My time is booked in two hour blocks at an affordable hourly rate. At a consultation, we sit and talk about what ever topic is of interest to you. Alternatively, I might teach you a class privately, or we just explore you. Write me for an appointment time AFTER reading this on seeing me professionally.

Do you teach any classes from your Erotic Arts Curriculum privately to individuals, couples, or small-large groups?
